10:55 pm - Vacation - Day 3: Thanksgiving

As befitting an official holiday, we slept in and spent a lazy day by the pool still recovering from yesterday's In the Hot Tobhike. I should say pools – there are four of them as well as four hot tubs and an "in-cliff" water slide. I think we will have hit all of them before we complete our trip. The temperature is in the mid-70's and we enjoyed lunch delivered poolside from the hotel's Cascades Café. I couldn't resist having a tropical drink and ordered a silly looking strawberry pina coloda, but it was just the thing. The heated pools are incredible: just warm enough to take the chill off, but not so warm that you feel as though you're taking a bath. The Jacuzzi's were quite hot and refreshing. Beth sat in one of them quietly reading a novel although, at one point, she was disturbed by some rather rowdy children. However, a few words in her mock stern voice sent them scampering.

SunsetBeth had called quite some time in advance of our trip in order for us to enjoy dinner tonight at the Different Point of View restaurant. "View" is the operative word here. We arrived quite early and from the wonderful restaurant patio you can see for miles and miles in all directions. As we were having straight up martinis, I furiously snapped a number of pictures as the sun was setting, one of which you see at the left.  To see other pictures taken during this part of our vacation, you may click on the martini glass in the picture.  That will take you the picture at my photo storage center on Bravenet.  Then click on 'Album Home' to see other photographs that were taken during this part of our trip.

We both enjoyed the dinner (indoors as it got quite cold after sundown) and ordered, of all things on Thanksgiving, the same stuffed turkey entrée. Delicious. We drank a 1996 Ferrari Carano merlot with the meal (no, you don't always have to have white wine with fowl) and finished off with espresso and cappuccino, respectively. Forgot to mention my wonderful Lobster Tamale soup starter; Beth had a superb Squash soup.

I warned you that this would all boil down to food and booze.
