Day 4
The day after Thanksgiving is considered a Floating Holiday so we considered
spending a lazy morning floating in the pool. Well, I considered it;
we instead headed to Scottsdale. A great little town, Scottsdale is very
artsy with many restaurants and galleries. We walked into the Heritage
Gallery, a shop that specialized in Southwestern art. We were especially
impressed with the work of artist Charles Waldman and in
particular an oil painting of his entitled Evening Calm. We leisurely
strolled around Scottsdale looking at the various shops and then headed back
to the hotel. After a quick lunch at the hotel restaurant, we played a round
of twilight golf at the beautiful Pointe Golf Club on Lookout Mountain
attached to the Point Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort. For those that have a
technical interest, below are the ratings for the course.

It'
a links course with rather challenging play and spectacular desert scenery.
Its signature 10th hole has one of the most unusual tee-to-green setups I've
ever encountered: A drop of 11 stories! The trip down the slope in the golf
cart was one of the more harrowing experiences of our vacation. The couple
with whom Beth and I played was forced to switch carts at this point as their
battery was weakening and they didn't think they could make it to the green.
I think Beth and I both played pretty well for not having played much at all
this year, but I don't think I'm ready to post our scores. Let's just say
that we played as well on this course as we do on most courses.
It got dark quickly and we had to skip the last couple of holes and we
decided to join our new golf partners at the Point in Tyme Lounge for some
19th hole libations. While Beth sipped her Oban, our new acquaintances talked
me into trying a Keoke Coffee. As I mentioned previously, I'm not usually one
for sweet alcoholic drinks, but I'm always willing to try something new. Yep,
I liked it. If you're interested, you can find the ingredients at Webtender.
Later we drove back out to Scottsdale for dinner at the Old Town Tortilla
Factory on Main Street. Once again we weren't disappointed. Scottsdale is a
lovely place with a resort feeling and we would recommend a visit if you're
anywhere in this area.
As for tomorrow: on to Sedona!
