Paris Vacation - Day 4
Saint Sulpice
Beth's workshop this morning was in Chapter Leadership, but we able to meet for lunch at Léon de Bruxelles where we both consumed a large bowl of mussels. We later saw another Léon's and realized it must be some sort of chain.  We stopped at a shop called Laurene where Beth purchased a lovely new purse and some beautiful scarves.  While she was in the workshop, I had visited Saint Sulpice, a 15th Century church that our hotel abuts. I knew she would be as amazed as I was, so I suggested we take a quick tour.  It is a sensationally gothic masterpiece.

Marching School ChildrenLater we attended the official opening at Le Palais Congress of Beth's International MPI group.  The keynote speaker, a Frenchman, spoke on the "seven possible outcomes" of the European economy.  I lost him at about number 4 and I think I stayed with him longer than most.  We later adjourned via chartered buses to Le Carousel du Louvre for hors d'œuvres and cocktails.  Excellent food and wine.  A deputy mayor of Paris spoke (didn't catch his name), but it was, thankfully, a short speech and local school children sang simple songs and marched around. The French somehow get away with this as entertainment.  While others left on the buses, we caught the metro and headed back to Saint-Germain des-Pres where Beth sipped a Cognac and I sampled Chocolat Valrhona at a rather futuristic looking bistro named Le Pre.  And still it rained.
